Rohrabacher Joins Coalition Of Republicans For ‘Operation Offset’
Washington, Sep 21, 2005 - Today Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) joined Republican colleagues at a press conference to present a plan that calls for finding offsets in the budget in order to pay for the rebuilding of devastated areas of the Gulf Coast.
“Hurricane Katrina has forced us to take a responsible approach to federal relief efforts and a reassessment of federal priorities,” said Rep. Rohrabacher. “I join my colleagues to ask leadership to take seriously any suggestion to offset the cost of Hurricane Katrina.”
“The federal budget contains numerous things that are not absolutely necessary for the federal government whether it is funding the National Endowment of the Arts, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting or subsidizing big business,” stated Rep. Rohrabacher.
The press conference featured several members of the Republican Study Committee, a conservative group of Republicans in the House of Representatives.
