Rep. Rohrabacher: President Obama Could Have Had a Valuable Discussion with Russian President Putin about Terrorism
Today, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) made the following statement with regard to President Obama canceling his one-on-one meeting with Russian President Putin:
“He could have had a valuable discussion with Russian President Putin about cooperation regarding radical Islamic terrorism. Instead, President Obama used Edward Snowden’s asylum as an excuse to cancel the meeting. Last night on Jay Leno, the President said of the Russian leadership that ‘there have been times where they slip back into Cold War thinking and a Cold War mentality.’ Certainly, things are slipping in the wrong direction: the establishment of a surveillance system on the entire population; use of the bureaucracy to attack political opponents; collectivization of a large segment of the economy; cronyism; arrogant disregard for accountability; basing power on a cult of personality instead of a record of success or failure; unwillingness to work with political opposition. Yes, we should be really be concerned about all that slipping .”
Rep. Rohrabacher is Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats.
