When: Tuesday, June 2, 2009
Where: 3rd International Conference on Climate Change, sponsored by the Heartland Institute

What: Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) will be the keynote speaker during the Heartland Institute’s 3rd International Conference on Climate Change on June 2, 2009, at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, DC. Rep. Rohrabacher is among Congress’ most outspoken opponents of global warming alarmism. In a recent House speech, Rohrabacher cited fallout from various cap and trade schemes and the intellectual dishonesty of those who claim the “case is closed” on global warming.
“It takes a lot to frighten people into accepting such economically destructive and personally restrictive mandates that would result from implementing a global warming-based agenda,” said Rohrabacher. “That’s why the debate has been stifled with ‘Case is Closed,’ and phony claims of consensus. The observations have been wrong and the attempt to shut up those people who disagree has been wrong.”
Rohrabacher’s speech, entitled “The Biggest Power Grab in History,” will focus on the fact that the scientific debate is not over and that the real science and economics of climate change support the view that global warming is not a crisis. According to the Heartland Institute, Rep. Rohrabacher will be joined by more than 20 of the world’s leading scientists and economists who will challenge the alleged “consensus” that global warming has reached crisis proportions and has been caused primarily by human activity.
