Rohrabacher: Spending Bill ‘Both Bad Policy and Bad Procedure’

Feb 9, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON – Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, released the following statement on why he voted this morning against the spending bill to keep the government running through March 23:

Emergency, stop-gap spending votes at four in the morning are no way to determine spending levels or government policy. I voted against the continuing resolution because it was both bad policy and bad procedure. The bill kept the government running, but also boosted spending on pet projects and programs that deserve much more deliberation.

Who will ultimately pay for the increased spending we set in place this morning? The heavier burden will be placed on the shoulders of the American people through inflation or the diminished quality of life in the future of our young people faced with gargantuan debt. Congress needs to change the way it does business. We can start with getting rid of the filibuster rule in the Senate.                                                                                                                                                                                    ###################
