Rohrabacher calls for civility, end to violence and harassment in politics
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – On reports that authorities have arrested a person suspected of mailing explosives to several Democratic politicians, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) issued the following statement:
Thank you to the federal, state, and local law enforcement officials who so quickly caught the person they believe sent explosives to current and former Democrat politicians, and to the Secret Service agents and U.S. Postal Service workers who flagged and intercepted many of these packages before they were delivered. Their work undoubtedly saved lives. We trust that anyone else who may have been involved in these heinous actions will be caught and brought to justice swiftly.
I call on my fellow Republicans to condemn these acts of attempted violence on Democrats and call on my Democrat colleagues to condemn the harassment and intimidation many of the extreme elements in their party have imposed on Republicans throughout our country over recent months. This all must stop. We must return to civil discourse and encourage everyone we know to engage in peaceful demonstration against policies with which they disagree. Political violence must not become the norm in America.
