Rep. Rohrabacher and COL Jason Q. Bohm posthumously presented the WWII Montford Point Marine Congressional Gold Medal to SSGT Randolph Elder

Rep. Rohrabacher and COL Jason Q. Bohm posthumously presented the WWII Montford Point Marine Congressional Gold Medal to SSGT Randolph Elder on August 16, 2013 at Camp Pendleton. SSGT Randolph’s sons, Larry and Kirk, received the medal on his behalf in a moving ceremony that involved over one hundred and twenty five Marines in full dress uniform. SSGT Elder was one of the first African American’s allowed to enlist and undergo recruit training at Montford Point, Camp Lejeune, N.C. in 1942.
