Economy and Jobs

The prerequisite to prosperity is keeping spending under control and not pushing our country further into debt.

Congressman Rohrabacher believes that economic liberty and fiscal responsibility are the pillars of prosperity. He is proud of his record of voting to limit government intervention in the economic affairs of Americans, his support of free trade among free peoples, and opposition to measures that push America further and further into debt.

The government should get out of the way of American innovation and allow the spirit of our people and the system of free enterprise continue to make our lives better. As such, he will continue to oppose legislation that would inhibit the ability of American businesses to grow and create jobs, including that which would restrict the cultivation of America’s natural energy sources.

One of Congressman Rohrabacher’s legislative priorities is the promotion of employee ownership, which he believes will help Americans build wealth for their future and create security for their families.  To achieve this goal, he authored H.R. 1792, the Expanding Employee Ownership Act of 2017, a bill that would amend the Internal Revenue Code to exclude securities issued to employees as compensation from gross income for the purposes of tax liability.  It would also allow those employees to exclude capital gains from those securities from their taxable income if they hold them for at least 10 years. By promoting employee ownership, this bill would give employees a stake in the success of their companies, leading to the success of employers and employees alike.

Congressman Rohrabacher will remain committed to policies that grow our economy and allow the American people to keep more of their hard-earned dollars.
