Congressman Rohrabacher’s Statement On The Death Of Head Iraq Criminal Al-Zarqawi
Washington, Jun 8, 2006 -
Today Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) issued the following statement in response to the news that the head of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, was killed by the U.S.military:
“Today we celebrate the successful elimination of a criminal who was responsible for countless murders of innocent Iraqis, including children, as well as brutal attacks on American troops. While terrorizing the people of Iraq, Al-Zarqawi was not an Iraqi and thus his crimes against Iraqi people and the American military were even more heinous. His death is a major step forward in bringing about a peaceful, democratic and prosperous Iraq, which will serve as a model for the Muslim world.
“Once again the U.S.military has demonstrated their professionalism and precision in dealing with terrorists in Iraq. For over three years, all branches of our military have sacrificed to bring the Iraqi people peace, freedom and democracy. Today all Iraqis and Americans congratulate their efforts and successes. I also want to commend the government of Jordanfor its role in ridding the world of this demonic savage.
“Another significant step forward was announced today in the Iraqi government and I commend the Iraqi Prime Minster for filling three crucial posts in his cabinet.
“Members of the al-Qaeda network should view the death of Al-Zarqawi and the continued formation of the Iraqi government as perhaps a turning point in our efforts to defeat Al-Qaeda and establish long-term peace in the world for Muslims and all people. Al-Qaeda’s ultimate demise and the success of democracy in the Muslim world is our end goal and today we move one step closer to achieving that goal.”
