Rohrabacher statement on the Rangel Resolution vote:
Washington,
Oct 7, 2009 -
Rep. Rohrabacher issued the following statement on his Rangel Resolution vote:
“What was done to Tom Delay and other Republicans in the past was unconscionable. Accusations against them in the form of questionable indictments were used as an excuse to destroy everything they had worked for politically by making them step down from their positions before being convicted of anything. Delay’s treatment was completely unfair and cost him his political career, yet he was never convicted. The minute Charlie Rangel has been found in violation of House rules by the Ethics Committee or convicted in a courtroom, he should step down without question. That should be true of anyone. However, we should not be destroying ourselves here by taking political advantage of accusations against someone in order to destroy them in their current position.”
